Agriculture Love + Knowledge + Experience

I am Erin Parks, and the love of agriculture came easily from my family’s roots which are firmly planted in southern Indiana where my father served the area as a former ag educator at Northeast Dubois for over 30 years in the community and my mother was the French Lick town librarian.
With no siblings close to my age, I went everywhere with my parents: agriculture field days, Purdue University tours, and livestock shows included. At a young age, I was immersed in the life and livelihood of agriculture where my love for it blossomed.
With that blend of education and agriculture emphasis from my childhood, I knew immediately after graduating high school that my field of study would be agriculture.

Two degrees in Agriculture

I graduated with an A.S. degree in Agriculture from Vincennes University and a B.S. degree from Purdue University. After Purdue, I started my professional career in the grain origination field. In this field I went from Linden, Indiana to Olney, Illinois then Jeffersonville, Indiana for over 17 years.

2012’s Drought changed my perspective on grain market and production issues

In farming most everyone has a memory and story about the drought of 2012, and I am no different. That was the year that changed my perspective on forward grain marketing and production issues.
I found it extremely difficult to counsel local producers when I didn’t know if they were insured or what protection they had. I uncovered an unfortunate problem, and it was that many producers knew they had insurance but didn’t know how it would work with their grain marketing or what their policy did for them and their farming operation. That’s when I decided to learn more and to be a better service provider to these operations.

At the end of 2014, I left the grain origination field to gain my crop insurance license and develop relationships based on insurance and grain marketing combined. Obtaining my license in 2015 as an agent with Diversified Services, my business began and has continued to build.

In summer of 2021, I opened my own agency, Parks Ag Solutions. My connections with producers these days are split with my time spent in Evansville and French Lick. My focus is always on providing up-to-date crop insurance information across many different types of communications, meetings, newsletters, emails, podcasts, social media outlets.
My passion for what I do comes when I am able to work side by side with local producers and see them benefit from their personalized risk management plans.
When I am not working with producers, my husband Mike and I enjoy NASCAR, travel (ask me about Croatia!), and our dogs Snoopy and Lucy.
